Two Miles High - Colorado: March 14, 2001
[Ten years ago, I moved from Washington, DC to San Diego, CA. I am re-publishing the things I wrote during that move exactly ten years after they happened. Read the intro here.]
As we crossed into Colorado, I said to Jenn, “Well, we’re not in Kansas anymore,” and laughed heartily (c’mon - that’s a killer joke). We drove across the high plains, through the tumbleweeds, and stopped and had lunch in Denver next to Mile High Stadium.
We pressed on through the Rockies, going from a mile high to over 11,000 feet. A sudden snowstorm had appeared in the mountains, and we suddenly felt like we were in South Dakota. We are currently on the other side of the Rockies in Grand Junction, Colorado. This area is all red-rocked mesas and canyons - we have gone through three completely different types of landscapes today. Grand Junction is also home to the worst shopping mall this side of the Mississippi. Trying to get specific is a waste of time, just trust us on this one.
Tomorrow it’s off to Vegas for a couple of days before all of our stuff is ready to be moved in…
